A Family-Friendly Small Town

Fernley is a growing community located just 35 miles east of Reno. Fernley was first established in the year 1904 and began as a railroad stop with really nothing more to offer eventually growing with schools and post offices, and grew as a farming and ranching community. Fernley is usually overlooked by travelers but is a quiet little town that offers affordable housing and several fun activities. This place is home to the Reno-Fernley Raceway, a place for racing events year round a pretty cool attraction for everyone whether you are a local or just visiting. Fernley was first known as lakeview then the locals took to calling it Fernley but the source for that name was never quite discovered and may never be. In Fernley you can find scenic views, spot wildlife like coyotes, rabbits, and many types of birds. There are a few casinos in Fernley; Terrible's Travel Center and Casino, Fernley Nugget Casino, Silverado Casino, Jackpot Casino, and Pioneer Crossing Casino that offer gaming, dining, and entertainment. You can also find a family friendly arcade called Frontier Fun Center that also has bowling and a playland. Fernley Shooting Range has training opportunities with safety measures and rentals available. In the Spring-time Fernley  holds a Lantern Festival, so if you want your Rapunzel moment you should attend and release your very own lantern, at this event there is also live music and interactive activities.
